The Umihara Kawase Shun Strategy Guide Book is the second of two strategy guide books released for Umihara Kawase Shun, having been released four days after the Umihara Kawase Shun Perfect Guide Book published by Shinseisha.
The Umihara Kawase Shun Strategy Guide Book, with 144 pages all in colour, starts by covering Umihara Kawase Shun's controls and menu, and then moves on to explain various useful techniques. It introduces the game's enemy creatures, including bosses, and includes a field chart.
Each field is covered with two pages each, showing a map of the field, starting and 1up backpack locations, exit locations and which fields they lead to, and the possible paths through the field, with detailed tips on how to complete these paths.
Towards the end of the book, there is a twelve page section on time attacking, a couple of pages on the possible 'loop routes' for those who want to try and play an endless game, and a four page Toshinobu Kondo Presents section, an art gallery from the Umihara Kawase series character designer.
