See https://youtu.be/Na2hmZaWT_o for more details, guess we'll have to see how good the touch controls are.

Unexpected, but cool!  I don't mind the method of delivery, either, having the first ten stages available for free to let people try it and get into it before they buy the rest of the stages.  I can't imagine it'd be too great to play with touch controls, though.

Unfortunately it requires a newer version of Android than I have at the moment, but whenever I do have an Android 7+ device (and a controller) I'll be sure to give it a go.

I tried immediately. Although a touch controller appears on the screen, it is difficult to simultaneously jump with the lure.
When you connect bluetooth controller, you can play like steam.

I just saw this.

Here's the link to the game btw: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.sakaigamedev.umibyeadr

The description of the game (Google translated) shows that it was just licensed out to another company. Studio Saizensen didn't port it themselves. Also they recommend playing with a wireless controller as opposed to touchscreen controls.
Quote"Sayonara UmiharaKawase Smart" is a 2D platform game where the goal is to clear every stage.
The rules are very simple: Using a rubber rope with a lure at the tip, you can hang on walls or ceilings and catch enemies while aiming for the exit inside the stage.
There are a total of 60 stages. 10 stages up to the first ending can be played for free. To play other stages, you need to purchase the unlock key.

"Sayonara UmiharaKawase Smart" is developed on the premise of playing with a Gamepad.
Please play using a "Bluetooth Wireless Controller" or similar.
Play by touchscreen is also possible, but clearing the later stages requires considerable player skill.

"Sayonara UmiharaKawase Smart" is the smartphone version of "Sayonara UmiharaKawase," the latest work of the "UmiharaKawase" series.
It is a simplified version which removes the net ranking, replay function, etc. from "Sayonara UmiharaKawase."

"Sayonara UmiharaKawase Smart" is licensed from Studio Saizensen Co., Ltd, and sold by Sakai Game Development Factory.

I'm pretty sure "Sakai Game Development Factory" is just Kiyoshi Sakai's company (especially because I found that trailer on his YouTube).

It's kind of neat this exists, but I'd struggle to think of a game less well-suited to touch controls.

How is the latency with a bluetooth controller, is it noticeable? I've never had much joy with Android as a gaming platform.
