In 1997, in the months following the release of Umihara Kawase Shun, Japanese magazine TECH PlayStation included some Shun-related content in its bonus discs.

April's bonus disc includes a trial version of Shun in which some of the game's earlier fields are playable. At the end of the trial, the screen will display the word 'Clear' and will then return to the game title screen.

May's disc includes a four minute super technique compilation video, showing off various fields being completed in impressive ways using various pendulum techniques and the rocket jump.

The June, July and August discs each include three new fields, simply numbered fields 0, 1 and 2. These fields test your mastery of various techniques - June's fields test your pendulum technique, July's fields test your rocket jump ability and August's test your vertical wall climbing ability. You are given five extra lives to play through these fields, and once you've cleared them you will be shown the total time taken to clear them, after which the July and August discs will play a short promotional video for Shun. June's fields play the Tama River background music, July's fields play Nagatoro, and August's play Shore. Oddly, July and August are missing all sound effects.

July's and August's discs also include replay data to be saved onto a memory card and played back in Shun. July has five replays showing off pendulum techniques in fields 2, 4, 13, 36 and 46, while August has ten replays focusing on demonstrations of vertical wall climbing and how to perform a rocket jump.

The September disc includes 52 time attack replays and 10 super play replays, which can be individually chosen to be saved to a memory card to be played back in Shun.
