In addition to having enhanced graphics, ''Sayonara +'' runs at 60 frames per second rather than ''Sayonara'''s 30. ''Sayonara +'' includes ten new stages with five new backpacks, bringing the total number of stages to 60, number of stage exit doors to 70 and number of backpacks to 45. Some previously existing stages have had minor adjustments, including the addition of enemies not in the original ''Sayonara'', and stage 34 has been completely revamped. ''Sayonara +'' also has a new 'quick retry' feature.

''Sayonara +'' includes the original ''[[Umihara Kawase]]'', which for the first time includes a practice mode. ''Sayonara +'' is also compatible with PlayStation TV.

Rather than the region-separated time attack rankings of Sayonara, ''Sayonara +'' has global time attack rankings.
