Princess Rescuer

An All Unlocks run of Sayonara Umihara Kawase is when you start with a new file and unlock every single part of the Gallery by completing all 70 exits, collecting all 45 backpacks, beating all 5 Survival bosses, and completing Survival Mode with all 6 characters. Time ends when you go in the Gallery after doing all these things and un-New!ing all of the items. Just go to each one and press circle two times (or X on non-Japanese versions). Following this route, a good player should do this in under 90 minutes.

Here is the optimal route to use:

First, complete 0 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 > 7 > 8 > 9 without collecting any backpacks to unlock Survival mode. I'll explain when you should collect the backpacks later.

Switch to Emiko (if you haven't already, it would be a good idea to do so) and complete this route to unlock Emiko's profile and defeat Tadpole 2. You can do these in any order you want, so start with the hardest ones first.

0 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 > 7 > 13 > 14 > 15 > 25 > 50 > 27 > 28 > 29 > 19 > 53 > 56 > 20 > 37 > 38 > 47 > 48 > 49 > 59 > 49

Switch to Child Umihara and complete this route:

0 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 > 7 > 13 > 14 > 15 > 22 > 23 > 24 > 55 > 39 > 40 > 41 > 58 > 44 > 45 > 46

Switch to Nokko and complete this route:

0 > 11 > 12 > 51 > 52 > 26 > 27 > 28 > 29 > 57 > 30 > 31 > 32 > 33 > 34

With the remaining different costumed Umiharas, do this route with your favorite one and do the first route in the run with the other two.

0 > 11 > 12 > 16 > 17 > 18 > 19 > 53 > 56 > 20 > 21

Throughout all of these, now's a good time to collect every single backpack in each route. This will give you more lives in Survival mode (just in case you make mistakes) and even if you never die, minimizes the amount of time you spend going to the next field and has all of the notifications pop up in quick succession. Do the tougher routes with Emiko first and work your way up to the less advantageous characters as you do the easier routes.

After that, complete all of the remaining fields and extra lives you haven't done yet, go to the Gallery to un-New everything to prove you've done it, and check what your final in-game time is on the information icon.

After practicing each field, my first challenge ended up with 1h33m.  I wasted many minutes in St32 and St59.  I will try again another day.

By the way, this challenge requires creating a new file.  It is OK on Vita because there are three slots so I can delete unnecessary one while keeping my main data.  Does someone know whether we can do the same thing on Steam, that is, to start a new game without deleting old data?

I'm not a PC gamer, so I don't know. Just do it on Vita. Keep resetting and erasing files until you get it right.

At any time in the run, you can press the PlayStation icon to go back to the Vita Main Menu and pause the run.

2nd challenge: 1h24m37s
3rd challenge: 1h16m50s

For me, 1h0Xm seems achievable with some lucky.  Under 1h seems, if not impossible, very difficult and needs to develop more clever routes for each stage.

Fantastic! I was lucky to get a time of under 90 minutes. Once you reach your goal, I would like to see the video of your perfect run. I would be so happy to see my idea come to fruition, even if I ended up getting no credit for it.

Sorry for Japanese explanations in the videos.  Let me know if someone is interested in some particular fields, for which then I will attempt to write English explanations here.

With regard to Princess Rescuer's route plan, I chose St16 route for Tadpole 2, which I think is two minutes faster than St25 route.  Super players may prefer St21 than St9 for the repeated Survival route because the former is faster (but too difficult for me).

Nice! Under an hour! I was surprised to see it go under 75 minutes. Full video please? Also clearer sound next time?

I don't care if I get the credit or not, I'm just happy to see my idea gain traction and offer something new and exciting to the game, as well as more substantial.

Next time, go back to the main menu and check the I icon to see what your time was. That will freeze it.

Other things I want people to do:

1. Post videos/streams on popular sites like YouTube or Twitch where the average person can easily find it. No more obscure Japanese streaming sites. Maybe invent a Twitch or Hitbox channel and restream it on that if it's too late.

2. Post times on Speedrun.com, the most popular speed-running leaderboard site. Invent a new category called "All Unlocks" as part of Sayonara Umihara Kawase.

3. List which controller you used during the run. On the PC version, it can be any controller. On the Vita version, list wether it was a Dualshock 3 or Dualshock 4.

These suggestions will help both you and the category gain traction and rise out of the depths of obscurity. I want to see this become big!

Forgot to mention: I posted a topic of this on the SDA forums to see if it would reach a more international audience. So far, no takers. Are the records to good? Or is it difficult to even find people who can even get all the unlocks in general?

Also, any takers for the All Golden Arrows run? Just asking.

I have achieved less than one hour at the finish of fifth. I've played in the PSVita. I still have a lot of mistakes. However, it is not easy to reduce the number of mistakes.

The All Golden Arrows run is a fair bit longer, not to mention less organic. You have to do the first tadpole at least 5 times. The most interesting discovery was routing in Field 28 after discovering I could cut one play through (15 minutes) off the time.

Also, I want to put the All Unlocks and All Golden Arrows times on Speedrun.com when I get around to creating an account.

Yeah, I'm going to need to find a day when I can just do that and nothing else for three hours.  I won't have that kind of time this weekend, but hopefully next weekend.

I'm not really looking forward to doing the tadpole that many times...

Just out of curiosity, what was your best time?

My best time is under 3 hours, though it's not uploaded anywhere. I just don't have the power to record. When you do it, post it in All Golden Arrows Runs. In order to get a good time, you may even need to set aside the entire day to do multiple runs to work out the kinks, and even resets when the Field 28 route doesn't go as planned. Do the Field 28 route first to mitigate this, although you won't be able to take breaks anytime later.

Rule change: You should cut out the amount of time looking through the unlocks and the time and just stop the timer when the last unlock comes up in the yellow text box. You can even do this on a current PB. That gives a definitive advantage to recording the run, which I encourage everyone to do to begin with.

With this, the times should be:

Siousatou: 43:41
Wai: 45:50
Ramtieger: 49:25
Esk: 50:43
Tooro: 1:00:08
Gorish: Time is not changed because no video. Can't gauge it.

Also, due to the distinct disadvantage Vita TV has under PC, there should be separate rankings, similar to how Super Famicom/Super Nintendo is different to DS/Vita/PC in the first game. There are loading times and the menus aren't quite as fast. Vita needs to be sub hour! Also, there haven't been any 3DS runs/leaderboards yet.
